2000 F250 6.8l with no power under load. I changed the clogged fuel filter a few weeks ago, also changed the wore out plugs. When accel pedal is hammered the engine spits and sputters around 3000 rpm. If accel pedal is depressed normally engine reves fine. Converter also gets red hot under load. Unburned fuel or what? Late
Sounds like a bad coil pack, did you use dielectric grease?
all it take is a little moisture around the spark plugs and
the boots, and the V10 will not run good. (been there done that)Not sure about the converter getting hot.

The cat getting hot is unburned fuel, usually.
The spitting sounds like a dirty MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. It can be cleaned, check the search function for "cleaning maf"
Is it reasonably drivable otherwise, except for the hard acceleration?

Smagma? smagma?! smagma!!! oooooooo oooooo what a handle!
I just bought a new goose neck horse trailer. The night I was bringing it home the same thing happened to me, complete loss of power under load. Turns out the converter was plugged and caused the EGR to burn out. Replaced those parts and it runs great.
did a check engine light come on during any of these problems, and is there any way other than removing the converter to inspect it?
i have been dealing with this problem for several months and it seems to be getting worse but nobody has found the direct problem yet, when the truck sits over night it runs fine for about 15 miles or so then it acts up. but never had an engine light and there are no codes.
