Sean I'm the same physical condition. I understand well. If the Doctors and the car insurance people ever got together, I'd have to hire a driver.
If I'd known that I would live this long I would have taken better care of myself.

I have been wondering the exact same think. It would be nice to be able to go into your engine compartment, pull a plug, a walla! Back to stock. Maybe it is not that simple though.

From what I have read, there seem to be three main advantages of the flashers over the chips.

1. You can modify the tranmission shift points with the flasher. What I read on Edge's website and all the info I have read on these forums suggest that the Juice module has no transmission changes, but says it will learn to adjust to the new power. From peoples feedback, however, it appears that the trans does a poor job learning at the higher power settings of the Edge. Thus having transmission control makes the flasher better suited for higher power operations.

2. The OBDII function of the flashers. I do not believe that the chips have this function. This will be invaluable when there is not any warranty left on the vehicle.

3. The flashers seem to have a much easier time being updated with new programming.

As I am only speaking on the plethera of post I have read on the subject and doing it all from memory, if any one feels or knows that I am wront about something, please do not hesitate to correct me. I am very interested in this topic. The Predator seems like the way to go, but I like to make extremely well informed decisions before I purchase anything.

Very well reasoned out and well said! You must be a lot smarter than the rest of us!
Another is that the speed limiter can be turned off, and, the best thing about the Predator is the way it makes the truck HAUL A.!!
The Predator Rocks!

A 1 amp power supply, standard 9 pin cable (other end depends on your computer) and cable is not a null modem cable. It will all be detailed on the page.
I need to make a trip to Frys.

Do you know the voltage on the power supply?
The cable appears to be a 9 pin serial cable. Is that correct?

Is it just me, or is DiabloSport's website REALLY bad. None of the links seem to work without going a round about way of getting there and I still have not found anything about the Predator for the 6.0L on it.

It's there. They have a lot of Java and tracking devices, cookies, you know. If you have good security its hard to get around.
I hope we get a link where we don't have to navigate their pages.

I misunderstood what you were asking for. They have a new page at http://www.diablosport.com/software.html
But I have been able to find the page to download our upgrade

Heck of a note... that software page is just as bad as their regular page...
tried to email them via that link (like I'm holding my breath for a response :-) )

And the email function rejects it saying "Need a valid email address - no matter that I tried two of my VALID email addresses !!!!)

Either they need a new web programmer
or he's doing JUST the right thing to keep the contacts down

You are probably right. They took down the page on the Ford Diesel Predator probably bacause I and others sent them more than 1 e-mail asking for the features they left out.

Ok, in preparation for the download,
found this on the OTHER diesel site

Required Items:

1: Serial Cable:
Standard straight-through DB9 (9-pin to 9-pin) RS232C serial cable (6 foot cable is more than enough). Check your computer to see if you have a male or a female port on the back, as some are different. You will need a male end to go into your Predator.
(Radio Shack Part # 26-117, 6-ft DB9 male to DB9 female shielded cable.)

2: Power Adapter:
CLASS 2 TRANSFORMER
OUTPUT : 12VDC 1000mA (1 Amp)
(Radio Shack Part # 273-1776)
Note: Plug Tip is 2.5mm x 5.5mm, female, and center is positive.
(Radio Shack Part # 273-1717)

Radio Shack normally carries both of these items. Most Wal-Marts have the Power Adapter (multi output version), too.

Note: If you have a laptop, you can use the vehicle's power to power up the Predator, instead of using a Power Adapter, and do the update with your laptop and Predator inside of your vehicle. It is strongly suggested to do this with a power cord, however.

Well, I am actually impatient...
(suprised ?!?)

I just got the predator back from a 7-10 day cycle to get the code clearing upgraded and do not want to spend another $20+ to next day air it again for the tranny update... would rather get the one time power supply and cable expense done and take it from there....

*********************
I guess my original guess was right about the predator generating those codes internally... that they weren't really codes in the truck, just in the predator...

after all, if I DIDN'T clear codes and it HAD codes in it b4 the upgrade, and now it doesn't show codes... where were the codes and where did they go ?

Hmmm...maybe they took the quick fix method and disabled the code reader so it really doesn't show ANY codes now ?!?!

that would be a slick way of fixing the code clearing prolem

just storm draining here :-)
and am glad I got the predator back....
I felt I was driving a yugo it was so sluggish when set back to stock
