My wife decided to join me and came home with a 94 Bronco, pretty clean but 175,000 miles! My question is that as the bronco picks up speed, you cant feel the transmission shifting(Not sure of which auto) This couldnt be right, right? Any transmission experts have any advice?
Ive got a 90 with 182k miles, automatic. I cant feel my tranny shift either, at all... low or high speeds. I dont think u are suppose to feel it shift. The only time i can feel my tranny shift is if i kick it down to passing gear or if i stomp it when i first start out, then it shifts hard into second. Other than that i cant feel it at all, so i wouldnt imagine that its a bad thing to not feel it, lol. You may be low on fluid.
Her bronco has the infamous E4OD, so there could be a number of things to check out. first have the codes checked, then have the tranny serviced. the tranny shifts are controled by the computer so unless your really into it you might not feel it. I dont have this tranny so I cant say much.
my 91 5.8 e4od shifts so smooth i cant feel it either. this is the smoothest shifting vehicle i have ever owned. just watch the tach and make sure it is shifting. once everything is locked in my truck goes 50 at about 1500 to1600 rpm.
I have a 94 with the E4OD, I can feel the 1st to 2nd shift, but does anyone else know why sometimes it skips 3rd gear and goes right to 4th, drove a 97 F-250 and it shifts the same way! Sometimes when its cold or I am driving it easy I can get it to go into 3rd and stay until about 45 MPH then it shifts very slowly into 4th, it shift slowly into 4th when it skips 3rd too, takes a long time to get into gear, and it seems no matter how hard you have the pedal down its going into 4th on its own. Anyone out there know why??
because its electronicly controled, so your at the mercy of the computer on this one. your mlps solenoid might be dirty or not working properly and causing the weird shifting, its located on the side of the tranny. also might be time for new fluid and filter.
