I was wondering how would i install a tach on my 74 390 i want just a little one to go on my column? what kind of mods would I have to make to the engine?
And when you go to wire up the switched +12V line look behind the dash on the left side. There should be a yellow wire with 3 female bullet connectors. It probably has 2 or more ports empty depending on your options. That is a +12v switched supply you can use without having to butcher your harness. Just connect a male bullet crimp connector on your tach wire.
You could also connect the tach light to this connection. The light would be on whenever the truck is on but again you wouldn't need to cut wires.

That's GREAT advise! I am planning on installing a tach also, but thought it was a difficult process. Guess not...
