My 86 f150 (351w) has a bad muffler, the muffler thats in the truck, has one pipe on inlet end, and two pipes on the outlet end, I guess you would call that a 1 in, duel out, type muffler??
Cause! when I order it from the auto part store they keep giving me a muffler w/ one pipe on each end.
I wonder if the muffler w/ one in, duel out, is the original muffler??
And also, Is it better to have duel exhuast pipes coming from the muffler outlet, or does it even matter???
the only thing a cat back duel does is alter sound and looks. its an aftermarket muffler thats on there so you will have to order an aftermarket to keep the catback system. magnaflow and flowmaster have some good single inlet dual outlet mufflers.

I thought so! I'm going to check out the Flowmaster.
P.S. How can I tell if the cat-converter is somewhat clogged?
and if it is, would it have any effect as far as the auto/transmission shifting.
here is whats happening, at a stop I accelerate and the truck feels like it has a little rumble to it, like it dont want to shift into 2nd until I take my foot off the pedal, then it will shift into 2nd and ride real smooth. I had it up to 65 -75 mph with no problems it's a c6 trany from a junk yard. I was wondering if it could be, a band ajustment that's needed?
hmm. wouldn't it be better to check out your transmission if your having shifting probs? a clogged cat will cause a loss of power and accel, and if you have a sensor after it you might get a check engine light. i can't help you much more than that since i haven't ever had a clogged cat.
