searched forum found that 007 posted (on 7-23-01) same problem as me. The problem is this......turn off truck heater fan stays on until put in the off position....drive truck 4x4 light flash on and off......relays under dash start clicking.....airbag light flashes 4 then 1...all this killed battery......put in new battery.....changed ignition switch......put in new relay.....I am knew to forum so I cant e-mail 007 to see how he fixed his problem.......can anyone help......truck is a 98 F250 5.4L......thanx for the help in advance...

I believe that there is a GEM module that controls a lot of that stuff. It is probably either getting wet and internally shorting or has just failed.
Racerguy will have better info on this.

Probably water in the GEM or the fuse box or both caused by a leaking windshield.
The GEM (Generic Electronic Module) is bolted to the back of the fuse box under the dash.

 

thanx for the quick response Lx man1 and Racerguy......pulled of dash on drivers side can see rust on some of the metal there. I also have been having a little leak on the gasket around window. I cant seem to get the fuse panel out or get to the GEM on the back side.....any ideas on how to get at it.....id like to see if there is maybe a short across the back of the panel causing all the problems......another strange thing....my control panel for the heater-a/c is now completely dead but before it died when I would turn the on of switch the passenger side airbag on / off switch light would turn on and off......also there is a low hum coming from the little white box (motor) behind the heater duct (infront of the 4x4 shifter).......... thanx for all your help guys........
