Playing Drums

Anyone have a drumset they go and play on from time to time? I've been drumming for about 5 years and I'm decent but I like to use them as an outlet for everything. If I'm in a depressed or pissed off type of mood, my drumming reflects it. It's really dark and I tend to use the Zildjian rock ride alot. This is normally when my sticks and my heads tend to break. When I'm in a good mood, my playing tends to be a tad on the lighter side, and I play around with the Sabian AA crash and my AA 8" splash and I use the highhat a tad more. I tend to have a very rapid bass beat and I don't really like to "roll" all 3 toms in session all that muc, unlike my best friend. He likes to play along songs, but everytime I try, it just doesn't sound right to me, yet he'll ask me why I stopped, as according to him it sounds good. (he's the type that'll stop you if it sucks...lol ) I Like Steve Gadd's stick by Vic Firth, but right now Ive been using the Weckel "red sticks" by Vic Firth (I think, the paint's wore off) and I think I like 'em.

I don't have a set of drums
but I beat my fingers on the desk, or on the steering wheel, out of habit
Funny thing, I never actually learned the drums, I just played at friends goofing around

I've been playing drums for about 5 years now. I'm the bass player in my band, but I taught myself the drums as a way to be more polyrhythmic on my bass, and it worked out nicely.
Unfortunately I now reside in a townhome, so my drumset is stacked right now. I get to play my buddy's set about 3 times a week, at band rehearsal.
I love the drums, I use them as a stress relief as well, plus it's nice when you hammer out a new beat that you never knew you could play.
Matter of fact, I'll be off to band practice in about 30 minutes...

ive played guitar about 6 years but have been playing the drums alot as well for the past 2. id love to pick up a set and drum for another band besides my own, but money is on the short side. i really enjoy slow funk beats with complicated fills, and really fast stuff that the guitarist would be speed-pedaling too. i even try some drum blasts once in awhile, although my hands arent fast enough. do you guys play double bass pedals? i can go moderately fast, but nothing amazing.

I'm too cheap to go out and buy a double bass. I can get decently fast with my single for now. Itll be time to play 'em in a bit.

Hey guys, I used to play the drums and I think I was starting to get good but I broke my ankle playing basket ball and lost interest. But now I play the guitar, I play a Yamaha Electric Acoustic and once again, I think I am getting pretty good, I have only been playing about nine or so months and it has all been self taught.

Figure I better chime in here...I too am a drummer, been at it going on 10-11 years now. I had a thread going a few months back about musicians that kinda fizzled out...

I never played drums...but I'm teaching myself guitar. I want to be able to lead praise and worship for our youth....plus, I've always been interested in music. was in high school band and jazz band for many years. loved it and enjoy singing....I've always thought thought guitar would be the instrument to learn.
