Got a spare
I have a question for you engine gurus. The solid lifters out of my original 215 were a little pitted. My engine guy says I can either get new ones or have these reground. Dad thinks they are hardened and can't see how they could be reground. My spare 215 was running when the previous owner pulled it and I can turn it by hand at the crank pulley. Would I be able to use the lifters from this engine with the cam in my original engine? Do they get worn to the cam? I would think they rotate and thus wouldn't have that problem. Not to mention they might be hardened. Any comments or suggestions?
Thanks!
It is something that is done quite regularly with Y Block and flathead lifters such as the Johnson adjustables.
Not cheap, about $80-90 for a V8.
