I would like to buy a Borla cat back system for my 2002 SD. The problem is that my truck is a SC with a short bed. The Borla web site has a listing for the SD with the long bed. I sent them an email and was told that they don't make one for the short bed, and I should contact my dealer to see what the difference is, also it was suggested the I buy the system and have it modified at the local muffler shop. I'm assuming the LB has a longer wheelbase but I'm not sure so any input would be apprieciated.
It's my understanding that the additonal length in exhaust is between the cat and muffler. Basicly, the cat and muffler/tailpipe are in the same location on all trucks the difference is in the pipe between the two. I'd go ahead and get the system you want then cut the intermediate pipe where you need to. I have a Borla single 3" system and it fit my short bed CC perfectly.
Yeah I agree. I went to the dealer and crawled under an LB and an SB and the only difference I could see was the pipe between the muffler and cat was longer in the LB. From the muffler back they both looked the same. So I guess the Borla should bolt up with out modification, if it attaches to the pipe that comes out of the cat. V10MAN how do you like the Borla?? Does it have a decent sound or does it pretty much sound like the stock exhaust?
You know you're getting old when.... you like your trucks quiet.. LOL The Borla is louder than stock but not by much. There is no V8 rumble like the old days. Basicly your stock system but louder. I looked into the muffler before installing it and it did have plenty of guts. Even a couple "spikes" for lack of a better word in the exhaust flow. Borla did there homework as far as I can tell. I've had it installed now for over 88,000 miles and no problems!
