how many forward gears

my mechanical knowledge would fill a thimble.but at least i can fix it when i find the right answers. can anyone tell me how many forward gears in a 1979 c6 automatic transmition f150 4x4 if it makes a differance????

All of the C6's were 3 speeds.

well its only a bumb ? if i have a c6, and i do, i just didnt know if it was doing what it was supost to.just seeing if my luck was changing , looks good so far
