I have a black painted delta tool box in my pickup and i got a huge chip in it and the water got under the black paint/powder coat stuff and now there is a huge silver sput, I need to cover the whole lid in something, I was thinking the roll on bedliner stuff, any ideas?
I'd suggest doing something like touching it up with POR or Zero Rust to protect the exposed metal, but I'm re-directing this to the Paint & Bodywork forum for some expert advise.

I wish more people would read this post. I've heard so many times, "Powder coating is chip proof. You can't hurt it." Hog wash I've always said. Any paint will chip under the right conditions.
Silver spot? Is the box aluminum?
The concern I would have is that the box is steel and if that is the case, the moisture has gotten between the paint and metal.
Let us know something about the box (a picture of the damage would be nice) and we should be able to come up with a solution for the problem.
It's all aluminum, and the spot is about the diameter of a tennis ball, the chiping has stopped but it looks like, well we all know what it looks like.

If you are going to paint it, you need to clean, sand and either apply an etching compound or self-etching primer to the exposed alumunim prior to topcoating. Myself, I would probably do that (although it may not be necessary) even if I was going to use a bedliner spray.
