Flash question

I'm new here and have spent the last day of so reading (I'm to page 26!

OK, I figured out what "flash" is but i am unclear if one can tell which update you vehicle is running under. Is the a way I can find out if my truck got the )ctober flash - or any other flash for that matter?

Also, is there any way to undo a flash?

THanks!

Go to this thread, read completely…. and post. Follow, on page 3..MLF250’s format, it is good…and easy!
Important update to instructions on page 6, 17 posts down from the top of page.

ODOMETER reading at time of problem is critical.
In addition, please read more instructions, bottom of first page, posted by Tim L
Tell as many as you can about this thread.
The simpler the writing (posting) of “problem/odometer” reading………….the easier it will be to collate. Do not need many words. I must reduce all the date into a usable format; extra words will take more time to complete.

Thanks

if your not sure, just ask them to install the resent flash. eg:dec. i was told that they can over write the existing flash or go to any ford dealership and ask for a service history print out.

i was told that they can over write the existing flash ......
That's a good issue/question: Does a flash just add to the exiting operating system, or does it totally overwrite the previous insert, and then write a totally new system. Add to pre-existing ?? or totally overwrite ??
(( I understand, I think I just repeated myself))

I have an 03 Excursion 6.0L PSD (March 03 Build)

Just had 15,000 mile service down at 12,300.

Had updated flash (old one was October)... but I am not sure if I got December or January (which somebody said came out)???

Dealer said that their WDS machine is connected at all times via the net for immediate and/or nightly updates from FMC. The service writer and tech did not know which was updated, but whatever one is was done since they update daily from FMC.

Now for the good news....

December (or maybe January)? update has shown the following improvements (or changes) over the October flash.

1) Highway mileage shows 19.0 on overhead computer.

2) Actual mileage vs fuel computed at 20.7 MPG.

(Using #2 winterized with Power Service winter additive for freeze protection and cetane level).

(Outside temp was 32 F to 39F) during driving).

3) Tip-in and Tip-out is firmer with NO lag.

4) Shift points were raised slightly.

5) Idle remained the same, but does slightly run up to 1,000 for cold starts, but drops back down to 600 - 700 RPM's.

6) Idle will raise if temperature drops of idles for a long time. Touch the brake or gas peddal, and RPM's drop back down.

7) A little bit of turbo "wine" is now heard, but not bad - sounds like a 7.3.

All in all, I am very happy with the latest flash (Dec or Jan??). The pro's out-do the cons.

I recommend the latest FLASH!!!!

Good luck to all... Keep Strok'n (I know but I couldn't resist).

Thanks,
