Side Door Lower Roller

Finally got thjis done. Cost $28 at the Ford dealer for the roller. Removed the top roller on the lower mech. and slid that out. Unbolted the support arm and slid it out without removing that access plate. Supported the door on a jack stand. Warmed it up using a propane torch to soften the loctie. Supported it over a vertical post on my porch, locked a visegrip on it and tapped the old roller off. Tapped the new one in. Reassembled in reverse order and adjusted(bent back) the arm on the upper roller from the door sagging on it. The wind was blowing 20mph when I started, now is up to 30mph. Since I have no garage I'll wait till the weather clears to readjust the door so it closes like new. Total time without a garage or vice was 1 1/2 hours including trying to find one of my vice grips and degreasing everything.

Hi, you are just the one I want to talk to. When you get the new roller, does it come with a new pin, the one you have to press back into the bracket? I mangled up that pin pretty badly while trying to remove the whole thing.

Thanks and best regards

If I remember correctly it comes with the pin. I've done it twice but am having a brain fart....took about 10 min to replace.

Yep comes complete with pin for direct replacement. It would have went faster for me if I would have had a vise or puller. Now I need a warm day to tweak the adjustments, it closes well but a little tight at the last couple of inches.

Thanks gentlemen, I got it done last weekend. Costs me 21 bucks. By the way, I tried bending back the arm just like Torino said, but that's a losing proposition. I finally decided to just shim it at the top bolt. That seems to work well as the door is now closing very smoothly without any effort.

Thanks again
