dimming lights

my truck has recently aquired a new trick. at low idle the headlights and dash lights dim real low, as soon as you get the rpms up they become bright again. i was thinkin voltage regulator or alternator, but i havent really looked at it all that close yet. i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Low idle means low voltage....the faster the rpm's the better the charge. voltage is regulated useing the amps from the alt. Is the rpm's within spec's? if it is, suspect the Voltage regualtor.

turn the idle up 100 or tighten your belt, common old truck disease, not a chevy or ford specific disease

dimming lights is when your at a stop light and your subwoofer amplifier is pulling 200 amps of current thru 2-0 cable and your voltmeter is dangerously close to 9 volts
