I have a V-10 Excursion and found some info regarding the Cyclone Power Fan from US Gear. Has anyone installed one? Any noticable power and fuel economy gains? They claim power gains up to 40 hp and better fuel econ. I found out the price is around $600 for the kit.
Alright, I basically understand what this fan is. It allows the fan to run only when needed. They say that's only 2% of the time.
So what is the difference between this product and electric fans? I've been thinking about getting a twin 16" Derale electric fan set up on my truck, thereby eliminating the mechanical fan completely. That will free up the parasitic loss of about 12 to 15 rwhp and give 1 or 2mpg.
Which is better, more effeicient, cost effective? Thanks for your help.
I was at a diesel fest this weekend and a US Gear vendor was there with this product. The product seems to make sense, but the salesman didnt so his job of selling his product. But low and behold i found one of the guys running a cyclone power fan in his powerstroke duallie, well i found him and asked if he really got 40HP after putting it on.....he hesitated and said he can notice a difference, how much he doesnt know. I think i will consider this, i just ordered the K&N open air intake for the powerstroke so i wil hold off just yet.
