Wanna change my kids ranger's auto ATF at around 12K. Mercon V (wish I could find a non dual rated synthetic ATF). When I do my super duty I remove cooler return line, run a hose to a bucket. Drain pan, refill and flush and fill repeatedly until I put in flush through 2 more quarts than tranny and torque converter holds. reconnect retun line. get level onto mid range of cold level. Run till hot and bring to full on hot level. Will this work on ranger? Which is the cooler return line? both are up near the oil filter.

Just pull both cooler lines off before you drain the tranny. Aim both of them into a bucket and briefly run the engine. The one that's pumping tranny fluid out is the IN to the cooler and the one that is not is the return. Shut the engine down immediately when you see which is which.
