headlights gone again

the headlights on my '99 f-250 PSD went out a week ago and the high beam indicator stayed on all the time.
I spoke to a repair tech when i went to Honolulu and he recommended a new light control module turn indicator arm and light controls. I R -n-R it myself the part cost $84.00 and it worked OK for 3 days now im in the dark again and not enthusiastic about buyin annother
any body can help out?

Do you have any added aux lights or any high powered aftermarket bulbs in the headlights? Added foglamps?

no not that i know of i've only owned the truck for 1 month, and havent been able to contact the previous owner i'll ask him when i do.
the rest of lights controlled by the module: running lights, flasher and turnsignals still work as they did after the first episode

Only thing I can suggest is inspect all the plugs that you messed with very carefully for melting or a loose connection.

Bingo! i pulled the steering wheel cowl off again and said some choice words while disconnecting the plug i clicked it back together and there were lights again!
Thanks for the advice Dave
do you belive in spray on contact cleaners for electrical connections like these?

I'm gonna take her up into the forest and see if it can survive the bumps, dust and puddles Aloha Stay warm Bill

Yes. But also you can sometimes take a very small pick or screwdriver, and try to pry on the contact tangs so they make better contact. And make sure you use electrical contact cleaner, not something like brake cleaner. Radio Shack used to sell small cans of "TV Tuner" cleaner that works very well. But it is expensive.

If any of you guys have older trucks where the radio speaker crackles when you turn the volume ****, buy some of this stuff, take the radio face off, and spray it into the volume control while turning it back and forth. It will work like new.
