Quick INFO
Thanks in advance.
Regarding identifying the newer motor, look for the "2004" sticker on the passenger side valve cover. There are many other clues, but that is the easiest.

just worried, I ordered one in late november for the sole purpose of getting an 04 engine, my truck should arrive a week from monday. and I will not accept delivery if it has an 03 engine, not after waiting this long...I could walk on a lot a buy an 04 by now...or at least i should be able to.
Whether you should re-flash or not is hard to say. I'd say not unless you're experiencing problems. There has been varied results with the previous flashes (Oct. and Dec.). Oct. fixed a bunch of stability issues, but at the expense of power/economy/quiet. More than likely the dealer flashed it to the Dec. level prior to selling it anyway. I'd say drive it for now, then wait until the tentative Jan/Feb/Mar flash that is supposed to be much refined. Of course, if you do experience problems, get it into the dealer for review.
Presuming you took delivery on dealer inventory, and being of last years model (03 motor primarily), hope you got a bargain - you should have.
Good Luck!

Do you recomend taking it to the dealer and asking for the Oasis check? I havent drivin the powerstroke before, so I'm not real sure on the low power, there is a slight vibration in the pedal under certian conditions.
If you look on the drivers side valve cover toward the firewall you will se the engine build sticker that tells the date and place of build. Mine is a 25 june 03 build at Indy. I think all the new Engine mods took place in September except for the new injectors which were done in the spring. So to have the newest engine design you would need a sept or later build date, Ive learned all this on this forum since i bought my truck.
I've read about a condition called turbo drone or turbo bracket drone on the site, happens beteween 1500 and 2000 rpm i believe, do a search for it, theres lots of info about it. I would do a search for your low power problems here also. If there has been a problem and a fix for the 6.0l there will be info on it here. What makes this such a great site is these guys document everything for the benefit of all 6.0l owners. Hope this helps, take care, John
Just as long as there isnt any MAJOR issues with this engine I will be happy.
I am leaving to pick up the new truck in about an hour. It is an 04. What do I need to know about the computer re-flashes before I receive it? What exactly do I look for on the engine to see if it the latest engine? I am new and have been reading the board for a few days, so try not to flame me to bad.
Thanks in advance.

The simpler the writing (posting) of “problem/odometer” reading………….the easier it will be to collate. Do not need many words. I must reduce all the date into a usable format; extra words will take more time to complete.

If it is an '04, with the revised '04 motor, no official flashes as of now (unless the flash is brand new). I've got a Nov build, original programming, and running just great.
