Does anyone know who makes the OEM step bars? I remove the chrome oval bars in the winter and replace them with 2 x 2 angle iron mounted on the stock mounts, thus enabling me to use the "steps" in the winter without ruining the chrome OEM pieces. Well while plowing a 9' wide bridge with my 8'6" plow I had a strange encounter with the bridge railing and broke the two aluminum bars mounts on the passenger side. Stealer says parts are not available must buy complete complete assembly.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I broke one bracket too...one of the cast aluminum ones. And the dealer said the same - can't buy the parts separately, only as a complete set.
When I got the new set I found the mounting brackets were made of stamped steel, not cast aluminum. I don't remember seeing anything but "Ford" anywhere on the replacements.
I wish I had saved my other brackets...they'd probably sell on ebay.
I'm just curious...what are you worried about with the chrome that made you take them off?
Just my attempt to keep the truck looking as good as possible for a work truck. In the winter I am in and out of the truck with heavy insulated boots when plowing and sanding. I plow 30 private driveways most of which are gravel. In addition the amount of salt that is used on the roads around here is ungodly.
