hey my question is a 1992 ford explorer sport a mechanical linkage or hydraulic? Part two is when turned on the clutch goes to the floor with no resistance and the truck will not go into gear. when i turn it off it will go in gear, then it will shift out of gear and then wont go back into gear again any help!!!
Yup it is a hydrolic clutch, your problem is probley your clutch master cylender has a leak wont hold the pressure to engage the clutch, what you need to do is open the hood and all the way in the back on the right side behind the brake master cylender you will find a small container open that up remove the diafram and it will prob be emty fill it to the step with dot 3 brake fluid replace diafram and cap, you might have a small leak but it will still work just have to keep adding fluid but if it does not work the leak is too big and you will have to have it towed, if when you fill it you can get it into gear i would drive it to a tranny shop, you have to replace the clutch master, i had the same problem my mechanic did the clutch when he did it the thing did not leak so to save me money he left it in but about a month later same problem you had he replaced it good as new, but seeing your replacing this thing you should do a clutch too because the tranny has to be removed and it will save you on labor in the future, but you should be able to get it to move just by putting dot 3 fluid in it look in the owners manual it will show you the exact location of it, also on mine i was able to get 2 weeks out of it adding fluid every other day before the thing finally would not hold the pressure had to have it towed and when they lifted it up all the fluid i added came out of the tranny but i had aaa plus free tow, thats defently your problem. Price wise your talking 600 for the clutch and labor if you know someone better i paid 500, and for the clutch master its 250 for the part alone plus what ever labor you get charged
