Is it possible to adapt '84 302 throttle body injection from a LTD unto a '79 351W LTD with a 2bbl? Provided the higher pressure fuel system is upgraded, can the tbi be bolted unto the 2 bbl manifold? I'm looking for an upgrade without switching any intake manifolds. Is this even a possibility or am I fool for thinking this? No experience here whatsoever! Just expanding the "possibility" horizon. What else would I need to know to make this kind of conversion? Would MPFI be better? It looks like a lot more hassle and another parts donor to find! It just seems that the 302 has a lot more power than the 351W. They both have approx. 85,000 miles on them, in about the same condition, both C4 trannies. The 302 is going into my pickup.
Thanks for all info! Maybe someone has a better plan, I have no clue in this department.
I think it will bolt on but I'm not sure about the wiring mess or anything else. I took the fuel injection off of an 85 ltd wagon and put a 2bbl carb on it. It was being used as a derby car and I wanted to eliminate as much wiring as possible. It was an older carb, from the late 60's I think.
Thanks Egor. You're right, the TBI did bolt onto the existing manifold. Now I have yet to deal with the computer and wiring. Two of the biggest problems will be 1) I have to locate a way to put an oxygen sensor somewhere around my headers on the existing car. 2) I have to find a way to tap into the coolant system for the computer's coolant sensor and I'm having no luck find a spot on the older manifold. I'm still wondering how this is all going to work. The fuel system is going to require alot of fabrication. I guess that's why it's a hobby. If it wasn't fun, it'd be work!
This is a great website y'all! Keep up the great work folks!
