Pulling Ranger 2.3L For Swap
After I complete the build-up here in the next couple of weeks,I'm going to be pulling my factory EFI 2.3L out of my Ranger and putting in a fresh Long-Rod HO 2.3L.I don't know exactly how long it will be till I get around to doing it,but I should have it in there in the next month or so.I have a Haynes Repair Manual and also a Ford Shop Service Manual for my Ranger.They both give a step-by-step checklist on how to remove and install the 2.3L engine.But,I wanted to ask you guys who have done it.What kind of problems,suprises,etc. did you run into when you pulled your 2.3L?I need any tips or advice that I can get.I have an engine hoist and a Craftsman toolset that I can do the job with.That's no problem.Are there any "special" tools that I would need to purchase to take the engine out,(i.e. extra-long ratchet extensions,flex-shaft extensions,Torx Bits,(Star bits),etc.)?
