I'm wondering if an ill running engine can cause an e40d to shift poorly. I just put a reman motor in my 90 f250 and now it shifts more positive than ever before. It used to slip going into drive if I had my foot in it any at all and now it feels real good.

How the motor runs doesn't have a direct effect but the transmission is effected by a number of sensors on the motor. TPS, water temp, MAP, rpm, etc... An improperly adjusted TPS could account for it, or a poor vacuum signal.
