3rd Row Seat Question

I have a 2003 Eddie Bauer Ex. I would like to replace the 3rd row seat with a seat with head rests or replace it with captain chairs. Any suggestions or information?

Not sure if captain chairs would fit. The third row cargo area sits higher than the second row brackets. If you have ever sat in the third row, you do not have a lot of leg room or depth, but it works for kids and short trips w/ adults.

A seat with headrests would be nice, but I think that the way the seat is constructed may not allow for it, unless a totaly new seat is ordered or purchased?

Let us know what you find out.

A good upholstery shop could install headrests in the rear.

There are a few folks who have.

I was going to until I sold it and had talked to a local shop about doing it. A bit of welding woulda been involved and the headrests woulda been fixed, instead of adjustable. My intention was to replace the second row headrests with headrests from another Ford model, such as, the Windstar and relocate the stock ones to the rear. They are a bit lower profile so they wouldn't block too much view...although a kid's head blocks view.

I also had plans to get shoulder belts for the inboard passengers installed but that plan never was implemented. And would have been a total custom job.

When I get another, it'll be the second thing I do...after the Hellwig.
