Any of you guy experience a whistling coming from the engine compartment when it is extremely cold. I have an 02 SD with a 5.4 and it only does this when it is around zero for an air temp. It sounds like a tea kettle and does it off and on for a few miles then it stops.
It's likely to be the power steering pump. My truck has made that whining/whistling sound for about 2 years in cold weather, but the power steering has yet to fail.
Where is the IAC motor? Is it also called the air bypass control valve? The weird thing about the whistle is my 2001 made the same noise. I would bring it to the dealer but the chances of it making the noise when they look at are pretty slim. Thanks for the tips.
