Code reader for 92' Explorer

I have a 1992 Ford Explorer with the 245 4.0L V6 engine. this is my first ford (Actually it is my first non-GM truck). I was wondering if anyone can tell me what I need to get for a scanner? Am I correct in my understanding that a '92 Explorer will require a OBD I scanner? If so, does anybody have any helpful insight on some good scanners? Thanks in advance,
Keith

For an OBD-1 code reader for my '92, I use a $3 analog voltmeter and a short piece of wire that was just laying around (spent a little to put blade connectors on the ends so it would be easier to plug into the self-test connectors). If $3 seems steep, the voltmeter technically isn't necessary, because you can also read the codes as flashes of the CEL. For instructions see www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html or any semi-decent repair manual.

OBDI scanners are relatively cheap compared to OBDII. You should be able to pick one up at any auto store for < $40.
