this 1990 ford f-150 automatic 302 fuel injected changed from a 300 seems to idol up and down... the motor sounds great but the thing sometimes stalls when it's put into drive or reverse. It seems to work well besides that... if you would be able to give me some ideas of what it might be it would be greatly appriciated.

Ford made 1990 F-150s with a 302 Power Stroke Deisel in them?

You dont say what kind of transmission you have, so I am assuming by the way you worded it, that you have an automatic. It's hard for me to say without driving it or whatnot, but I am more apt to say it is a problem with your transmission (if it is an auto) than it is with your motor, especially if it runs well at idle. I used to have a 93 Thunderbird Super Coupe, and it did the same thing yours does when the tranny started taking a dump--died when you put it into gear. At the time I didn't know anything much about how transmissions worked, but they rebuilt it and it was fine after that. Cost me like 800 bucks.
Another thing to check would be fuel pressure, if it is low it could cause it to die when put into gear suddenly, and could also be a sign of a dying fuel pump. Any local shop ought to check your pressure for a few bucks and 5 minutes of your time.
