HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just bought one of the Predator tuners for my 01 F250 PSD that Motorhaven has on sale
Could wait to try it out tomorrow. There lies the problem..... I read the instructions, closed the doors, unplugged the cell phone charger, turned off the radio and AC ignition was off. Plugged the sucker into the port everything looked ok until I tried to load the 60 HP setting. Got the message that the tune didn't take do I want to reinstall the stock setting, Yes, message that said the VIN doesn't match now and the stock setting fails to reload and the truck won't start. Yes it is a stock PSD no performance chip!
Ideas please quick!
Thanks
Don't know what it was, I diconnected batteries, unplug ECU and reconnected everything. Its running again.... disregard the post

Reason: FIXED
I just tried to install the Predator in my 2000 excursion PSD and it won't save the stock tune. It goes thru 2 attempts then says that it may have a tune already installed in the truck. I just recently purchased this truck and the last owner told me that he had a Western Diesel chip installed but had removed it before I purchased it. I looked and sure enough there is no chip pluged in. I spoke with a gentleman at diablo tech support and he didn't know what to do. Any ideas?
More info. When I spoke with the gentleman at Diablo he asked for the calibration ID. It's showing VNAB5Y2. Also, the VIN is just showing a series of ff.ff.ff.ff repeated to fill the screen. There is also some trouble codes showing up. P1000 OBD system reading and P0603 powertrain control. The only other thing I have noticed is that when the Predator is trying to save the stock tune, the theft light blinks rapidly then slows then blinks intermittently. Was hoping to get this installed for a long drive this weekend. Any help would be great. I can be reached at 404-964-3283 Dave
I sold my Predator. Seems like everyone was quick to mail me one when i bought it, but NO service when i had problems. I called many times, with no one available after tons of time waiting, and confusing email answers on what updates i needed. I am not impressed with the customer support system at all. I wouldnt recommend.
First of all I have a 2001 Ford F350 7.3L Powerstroke Crewcab.
I have seen the predator with settings of 40/60/85/120 hp but none with the high altitude tow setting that you advertise. They advertise 4 settings. Where are you getting the 5th setting?
Are they the same model of predator?
What setting is best for daily driving for performance/mpg (not towing)?
Does this give you any functionablility while you are driving?
Does the equip to download programs off the internet come with it? What specific equipment is it?
I am ready to buy soon, but need these questions answered.
From my experience the 60 HP tune is the best for daily driving. It gives the truck real pep yet if you keep the foot out of it will provide better mpg. The Predator does come with high altitude towing mode....which may be the 40 HP tune now that I think of it..... I haven't had to use that one yet....but I will this next week when I go elk hunting!!
I just received my predator from Motorhaven and can't seem to get it to load. The display isn't showing anything. I have followed instructions with no results. If anyone has had similar problems, how were they resolved? Real excited to test it all out.
I have tried everything that Tech Support said to do and then some and mine will not download the stock tune. I'm not sure what the cig lighter has to do with it but i'm sure you all know a lot more about them then I do. I checked mine and it's fine.

I was replying the post that said the screen wouldn't light up.

Feel free to stop on by MotorHaven and I'll take a look at the problem. We're over in Snellville. Make sure you call first before coming over to make sure I"m in the office. I'm going to be gone part of Tuesday. Let them know you're coming over because of a problem with the Predator so I can make sure not to leave on any errands. 770-736-7122
