Found a '55 yesterday
I found a red '55 yesterday, the truck what I seen of it looked pretty good, It had a few dings in the fenders, but other than that it was pretty straight. Are they'er any places on these trucks that's bad to rust out? who ever did the bodywork was either good or the body was great on it. But i couldnt tell if it had any fills in it. They want 3,800 for the truck right now the way it sits. Its got a 289 w/3 on da tree...

Check around the rear cab corners for fill in and where the front fenders bolt up to the cab right in front of the doors. I have a '53 dosnor (sort of) and the is where I see most of the problems. If the truck is from the west or mid west, it could just be in really good shape. Here on the east coast, everthing has a tendancy to rust. By the way, $3800 doesn't sound too bad if it in decent shape. I paid $2000 for my '55 and have about $10000 total in it now. Good luck!

Check the frt./rear cab corners, above the headlights and where the running board attaches to the rear fenders. Also look where the wood bed meets the bedsides and front of bed. The door bottoms and floorboards are often other problem areas.
The cab corners are usually the hardest to fix but replacement corners are available.
Kentucky road salt is not good for them. Good Luck!
