Question Initial startup

Hi guys,

Question; My truck has been stitting for about 1-1/2 years and now I'm ready to fire it up. Should I do anything to the engine prior to turning it over?
Thank for your help.
John

Well, this is a big can-o-worms. Everyone will have a say in this for what they usually do.

For the simple way: unplug coil wire, crank engine till the oil light goes out, hook coil back up and try to start. By the time the oil gets moving, the fuel should have filled the carb enough to fire. Some people will pull the plugs and shoot a dose of oil in the cylinders to help things alot and make the pistons move over the rust spots easier. It's a good idea if it has been outside the whole time.

Good Luck
Larry

In addition to the above, put some Marvel Mystery Oil in each of the cylinders and let it soak for several days Put in a good flush in the engine and drain that after a few minutes of running. Change the oil filter after the flush.
