hey guys, i know this has been posted a hundred times before but has anybody found a true culprit to the abs light on , its like 20 degrees outside now and i really dont want to spend 4 or 5 hours jerkin around with this if its not going to help. i will update you all on this problem,
rear abs light is on, truck vibrates from highways speeds when braking.i have replaced the following allready..front rotors, calipers, pads, checked and greased wheel bearings, new drums ,shoes, wheel cylinders. bleed the entire brake system including the master and the abs control. still this problem is there.would a faulty abs control cause this..please help i cant stand this shakin anymore...........
Probably the ABS wheel speed sensors are loose or just worn out or broken.
If the ABS wheel speed sensors are not turning then the ABS module thinks that the wheel speed is 0 and thereby thinking it is locked up. So, when you hit the brakes and the ABS thinks the wheel speed is 0 and thereby thinking it is locked up then it will activate the ABS mechanisms and adjust the brake fluid pressure on/off many times a second when braking.
thats what i wanted to hear !!! now it all makes sense
thank you slade,i will brave the cold on saturday morning and let you know what happens...again thanks
If the abs light is on, the abs system does not fuction. There is a loose wiring connector (one wire) near the parking brake pedal that you can ground out when the abs light is on, and it will blink out codes.
