Original Motor Preference

Ok I was wondering which y-block or 1950-1956 motor has the most power and availability for aftermarket add-ons. I was wonderng about the 312 in particular but I am still learning so you tell me.

Thank you. That is the best article I have seen on the motor. I am making my mind up as I go. I have the yblock 239 and I am trying to decide whether to modify or replace.
