oil leak
I have recently purchased a 1968 F250 with a 360 and C6 tranny. It has a small oil leak and the oil pressure is running low. One of the oil caps is not going on tight, I didn't know if that would cause the oil pressure to run low or not. Also I did not know if the 360's are prone to leaking from the rear main or if it could possibly be something else like the head gaskets. any help would be appreciated. In my defense I am an aircraft airframe mech. trying to learn to restore my truck.

Thge FE engines typically have kinda low oil pressure. My 352 (67) hits 40 or so when it's cold but drops after it warms up. It idles around 8 or so and runs around 20. It has a lot of life in it. I also have a slight rear main leak as does my son's 390. I think this is also typical. Not sure what you mean by "one of the oil caps is not going on tight."

Yep, rear main is a typical leakage spot - as is the seal between the intake manifold and the top of the block - especially at the rear of the engine. The latter is easier to fix, a little cleanup and some blue Permatex - no problem. The rear main is more complex...
