service engine soon
i have a 2002 v6 and my service engine soon light has come on for the past three days. i have no clue to what it could be. i know i need an engine coolant flush and refill. could that be it? i also need an oil change. maybe thats it. ill probably do both soon and see if that works, but any ideas are greatly appreciated.

hey quick just go to autozone and have um pull the code for free then go to www.actron.com and punch in the code in the obd-2 code section

All vehicles made from 96 and later are required to have OBD-II (On-board Diagnosis, 2nd Generation). There is a port that they'll plug in to, it's usually under the dash on the driver's side. When you throw a code your CEL will come on. I have an OBD-II reader if you're anywhere near Cincinnati, OH I'll check it for you, but like they said Autozone will do it for free.

hahaha oh yah something i did, i just bought one of those obd readers on ebay... the companys that make um are actron, equus and diablo, diablos are called the hellion and equus is model 3100, i forget what the actron's model number is, but there a great investment. i am constnatly changing something something on my truck the the light pops on all the time from me fiddling with it. its nice to have so i dont have to pull the battery cable all the time and i like to charge my buddys a beer apice to read there codes!!!!

I said that i finally just broke down and bought an obd2 reader off of ebay, there are three companys that make um actron, equus(model 3100) and diablo (the same people that make those wondeful chips there model is the hellion) there a great investment to have. I do alot of fiddling with my truck and the engin so im always poping my light on. Its nice to have the reader to make sure of whats changed and i dont have to remove my battery cable all the time. (i hate reprogaming the radio) haha oh i also said that when my buddys check engin light comes one i charge them beer to use my code reader!!! Well my name is Steven Marshall and i do drive a ford

Needing an oil change won't cause the CEL to come on. If the truck's running okay otherwise, it's probably the O2 sensor or the egr sensor. I also unplugged the sensor that is in the intake pipe behind the maf one time and forgot to plug it back up, that also gave me a light.

hey guys got it checked out and traveling man was right. it was an O2 sonsor. the code was P0174 and it said that bank 2 was running lean. which side is bank 2 so i can fix this. or i might just replace all four. what a waste of mod money.
