My NP 435 trans mission in my 78 was acting Funny-It would bind and would not downshift to 2nd unless I's going less them 5MPH and Dad said try ajusting the clutch and it did not help So he Told me try changing the grear oil 80w90 Coastal cheap-$#$# so I did and WOW. It was smooth as silk for a day. and bach to the same But heres my Question.I had Moble 1 synthetic 85w-140 when we took it out to replace the flywheel and it was ALOT better and I didn't have the Moble 1 when I put the trans back it I just had 5 qts of the Coastal-CHEAP #%$6 and It was great for abouT a week and then hard to get into 2nd(Just would not go) and I adjusted the clutch -didn't help and changed the oil helped about a day.DO I need to get back to moble 1? Would that help,yall think?

Did you replace the pressure plate or have it resurfaced and was the clutch replaced too? When you adjust the clutch, do you remove the flywheel cover and look at the clutch/bearing to see what effect your adjustments are having? When you press the clutch (wheels blocked of course) can you see it lift away? Have you checked the fork to make sure it is engaging properly?
