Help my fuel gauge in my 1988 Bronco II XLT i checked all the connection on the car for the fuel gauge i changed the gas tank from a 90 machine and the guide told me to change the fuel senders to which i did. for some reason i ccan tell the fuel levels in the vehicel. which in order to become road legal it needs to work right. or i am screed in this state HELP anyone have any ideas. if you do contact me at jnedobity@yahoo.com please. thankyou
In my 82 Bronco fuel guage stopped working, i pulled the wire connector off the sender unit at the fuel tank and bridged it together, with ign on the fuel guage should show full, this indicates the wiring to the sender is ok and there is power there.
When sender removed it turned out the float had a small pin hole in it, and was full of fuel, sinking it to the bottom of the tank even when full of fuel.
Other wise put a multi meter accross the sender terminals you should have a closed circuit thru the sender, (ie power flows thru it) if not needs replacing.
