Steering Column Woes

I have a 1988 F-150 XLT Lariat Tilt & 5 Speed Floor Shift. (237,000+ miles). I love the old gal, but now I've got a big steering column problem. The pins are broken and the wheel shifts side to side and the ignition switch is hosed. I'm told you can't get the pins any more, and if you do that it takes special tools to fix. I can't find a salvaged tilt column around here. What do you folks advise? I saw post that said you should find a tilt column for $75 - $125. I can't find a non-tilt for less than $250. HELP? Please?
