). Anyhow, in the past couple of days, the danged thing started to do a little slipping. Checked the fluid levels, and I was low (right below the hash marks), so I added a quart. She still slipped, and had me having kittens--I can just see me under this thing, freezing my tailfeathers off...
I stopped at my local Autozone for some Dexron III to have on hand, and happened to mention my problem to the manager. He handed me a bottle of Lucas' Transmission Additive (I think that's the name). I poured it down the dipstick (which took forever, as it is very thick, and it was only 45* today!).
By the time I drove a couple of blocks, I could feel the slipping stopping. The shifts were a little tighter, it didn't hunt for gears, and the best part is, O/D didn't kick in until almost 45mph! Maybe something was not activating properly, because I was getting O/D at 35mph on the nose. Usually wind up lugging the engine in traffic if I didn't turn the O/D off.
This stuff is supposed to stop leaks, so I am hoping I can make it to spring without having to crawl under there and pull the tranny. I know there's no such thing as a cure in a bottle , but consider this a big
