I was looking at a tint roll on kit. On the label it had the advantages of tinted window: Better look of vehicle, check ;less fade on interior, check; less heat, check; less shatering in a colision, check; Improved fuel economy, what the heck?? How can window tint possibly improve fuel economy?? Did i read the label wrong or what??
Probably in a really weak round-about way I think the tint assists the air conditioning efficiency a tiny bit, the manufacturer of the tint figures the A/C doesn't have to work as hard, therefore, increased fuel economy. Sounds like bs to me, any savings in A/C efficiency probably could not be measured.
I think that's just, in this time of higher gas prices, to try and get sales from those who are, let's say, gullible.
If they didn't not explain that in depth on the label, I bet the average Joe is supposed to BUY the product to find out what the deal really is, which is the intent with or without the false advertising.
Tint saves me gas because that big guy with the cellphone stuck in his ear can't see me flip him off. Therefore, I don't have to outrun him; thus saving me the gas.
The extra shade provided by the window tint probably helps keep the gasoline from evaporating so quickly--just like why people get better mileage and more power on cool nights.
soksniffer: Did I miss something down here in the land of Mouse? Evaporating gasoline means more to sniff or lower MPG? And cool nights? Better mileage? Tinted windows at night, when it's cool, that's when mine are rolled down. DD
Gasoline must evaporate out of my tank... everytime I drive someplace (especially long distances) there's less of it than when I left. I know my gas tank isn't leaking so where else could it possibly be going?
(I'm not the one that started the absurd assertations in this thread--blame that on 99xlt's tint manufacturer--I'm just continuing them.)

I would have said it makes you faster. I saw The Fast and the Furious and all those cars had tinted windows. If I tint mine, my car will be just as fast.

No...to go faster like the F&F you need about 300lbs of stickers and TypeR emblems
Yeah, and dont forget the neons. I heard from someone who knew someone who had a friend whose uncle told me that neons will give extra torque and hp too(especially if they flash to the music)
window tint will also make less handsome guys more attractive cause the bimbos on the street wont get a good look at em through the tint til therye already in the car/truck
