Question adjustable pedals switch

The adjustable pedal switch on my 03 Expy has 2 arrows, one pointing up and the other pointing down. When I press the upward arrow my pedals go down and up when I press the downward arrow. My question is, is this the way that it was meant to work or is it that my switch is reversed?

Mine works that way... and this is how I remember it.

Imagine that switch rotated to where it faces up. The Up button means the pedals will move to the front, or away from the driver. The Down button means the pedals will move to the rear, or closer to the driver.
