HEY! i had my new BFG 285/75 MT KM's put on my stock truck today. i am overly impressed with them. ride just as good if not better then the OEM 235/85 General Ameritrac's. except for a very very soft vibration at low speeds, this tire is more then streetable, obviously louder then a hwy tread but not by much at all. tire and factory delux aluminum rim combo looks very good. a perfect fit. i do not drive aggressive so im not too sure of a power loss, although maybe a loss in 4th and OD (auto). my buddy has the same size on his chevy 3500 but the GOODYEAR MTR's. if you ask me, these blow them away. when i hit the mud/snow/sand i'll let you all know what i think then. anyhow, as of now, i deffinately recomend them.
I am in the market for new tires. I had a bad weekend. I was in about 10 inches of snow and my 4 wheel drive failed. I had to get pushed by and GMC and pulled by a chevy to get out.
VERY EMBARRASING. Still taking s@#$ for it from these guys. They asked me if a shovel and a tow rope are what you get when you select the 4x4 option on the Ford order form.
I have found that the general Ameritrac TR 235 85 16's do very well in the snow, but I am going to get extreme beadlock wheels with 305 70 16 superswamper TSL's come spring.
I dumped my steeljunks this fall also, they are terrible in the snow. Went with 285/16's BFG KO'S, I must say what a diffrence in ride and in the snow. Little road noise and so far a good wear pattern.
first time i had the new BFG MT's snow bound. they did pretty damn good. in 2wd, they tend to want to digg pretty hard in the packed stuff (there was def ice underneath.) causing the diff to lock up, but i guess thats ok. kept the truck straight and true through drifts in 4wd and 2wd. uphill tractrion in 2wd is fair. slip sliddin away!(not much loose snow was present, seemed more icy.) really need to be in 2nd with the throttle at 2500 rpm or above to keep a steady pace in 2wd. no prob in 4wd up hill. you can actually hear the lugz digging through the snow. well we all know more rubber contact on ice is better then huge spotty lugz, so like you would anyway, take your usual caution. so far so good.
