Brake Help

Need some advice from all of the fellows here - The brakes on my 1989 F150 have been feeling kind of mushy lately. I found / replaced a leaky rear slave cylinder and bled the 2 rear wheels. When the motor is off, the pedal got harder and harder to press which to me indicated that the bleeding was going good. With the system fully closed off, the pedal is very stiff and only travels about 1/2" or so. The problem is when I start the engine and engage the power assist. Now the pedal goes all the way to the floor. Mind you the truck stops but the pedal is still mushy at this point. Is this just a normal feel of ALB or should I have bled the system with the engine running. Any thoughts guys would be appreciated !!!!!!

It's not totally uncommon to have to bleed the brakes a second time. Hopefully you didn't drain the master cylinder dry when you serviced them. The ABS definately does not go to the floor. If a second bleeding does not correct the problem, it is possible you may be developing a problem with the master cylinder. Check everything out carefully. Brakes are nothing to take lightly!
