Expy Tranny Service
I bought a used 2000 Expedition 4x4. It has no owners service manual. I have ordered one. When is the recomended first trany service. For my Explorer I followed the age old profacy of "never change your transmission fluid." That tranny died at 130,000 miles. I am hoping for a few more miles on this Expy.

how many miles are on your expy? i use the general 30-35k mile or once a year change rule......though the fluid may be still good i think i sleep better......not to mention i can catch any prob's comming befor the get too bad......the filter i let go for two changes or if fluid is bad

Sorry about that, 40,000 miles on it now. I guess I am due. Since it is new to me, I will go ahead and have the filter changed too. Based on the messy factor, I think I will let Jiffy Lube do this one.

if you plan to keep it a while you might wana think about a pan with a drain plug or put a drain plug in $7-8 for a plug

no you can get one at local parts store......drop pan, clean good, then drill a hole in pan where plug goes.....put plug in hole and tighten the nuts to torque spec's and have a beer......took me 2 min to install.....not even a drip out of it......i swear by them now...
