Low fuel, loud knocking

Probably sucking up some air at the fuel pickup in the tank when its low. I have read that air in the fuel line causes the idle cackle/knock. Do a search on cackle and you can do some research. Some folks complain of a knocking all the time. Ford say don't worry. There are many "fixes" for this, from modifying the fuel pickup, to connecting the fuel rails (i think they dead end stock) and such.
Read up on it and then maybe go to the dealer. Dunno if this would be covered under the 5yr/100,000mi warranty for the motor.

The fuel pickup on these trucks suck air big time. There are some simple mods which may help. Go over to www.ford-trucks.com and search on Hutch Mod, Cackle, idle knock, in tank mod, pre-pump mod. You will come up with enough reading for a month.
