i have replaced fuel pumps and filter, air filter, spark pugs and wires, map sensor, and adjusted timming to ~12. i then ran numerous KOEO and KOER tests......and i think the injectors are the only thing left.....if not let me know any suggestions
Have you tested the tps? It's possible it could have some dead areas. Check it first with a volt meter or an ohm meter to see if it is bad before going and buying a new one.
If you check it with an analog volt meter, you can see if it jumps around by slowly opening the throttle. There could be a bad winding in the tps and cause the voltage change to jump. There should be a smooth transition between the low voltage and the high voltage. Does the truck act up when you floor it, or just normal cruising?
I just had my 87 Ranger's 2.9v6 serviced at a local repair shop. They had a machine called a "MotorVac" that they hooked up to my fuel rail. This machine then injects a detergent/gas mix that cleans out carbon in the engine. It cleans carbon from everywhere your gas goes. It cost $100.00 and took three hours. I found out from my local Napa dealer who had sold this "MotorVac" system to the shop. Go to www.motorvac.com to read more.
