Does anyone know if there is something aftermarket to replace the ashtray and/or lighter? I'm never going to use it anyway and If I can find something that would be useful, even it its just a slot to put receipts and change in, it would be much improved.

that is an awesome idea. I want to ake advantage of that wasted space as well...

I must say that I am a smoker, but I have not smoked a single cigarette in my new lariat screw. If I took out the ashtray and lighter, I would have even less to persuade me to smoke while on long trips... (right now I just pull over and get out first)

I have seen people take it out and put addons in that area..... aftermarket heated seat switches, radio head units etc.... the sky is the limit if you have the money I guess.

Congrats on quitting smoking (I saw one of your earlier posts) Now there's less of a chance of another roadside fire being ignited by a discarded butt..

Some people have put satelite radio tuners there... I plan on finding a cell phone mount that I can adapt to fit in that cavity...

I thought about replacing my lighter with one of these Mini torch flashlights from volkswagen:

Since the manual says not to plug any accessories into the cigarette lighter port though, I'm not sure it's a good idea. Wish I could find a simple, unpowered Cell-phone holder that would plug into the cigarette lighter port. Guess I could modify one, but hate to pay for power I'm not going to use. Finding one big enough to hold my MP3 player would be sweet too.

Really?

Whoops... I wired up my radar detector using that power. It doesn't plug in, but I piggy-back off the power on the back.

I think the owners manual is talking about heavier loads, like small invertors, chargers and stuff. A radar detector draws squat. I would not worry about it.

I would assume that a cigarette lighter would draw a mighty amount of current.
I know my radar detector draws didly, that's why I didn't worry about it.
I just didn't realize Ford had that note in the user's manual.

maybe I should learn to read sometime.
