Brake Line Replacement

I noticed a small pinhole leak on the main line going from my proportining valve, back the the splitter for the rear brakes. I called a few local shops, and no one carries this line! I was wondering if im going to have to take it to a shop and have it replaced? Alos, I noticed it while i was bleeding my brakes, and my truck is in the garage I know that im not going to have rear brakes, but do you think i can limp it to the shop (if need be) on just the front brakes?

Any help would be great

Thanks in advance

Rick

you can go to your local auto parts store and get sections of straight line and bend it to match, might have to use several pieces, or if you can get a long length of line you can make the new piece, just be sure to double flare the ends. You can also get the parts online with classic tube, or inline tube, don't remember the website, but can probally search and find them.

Just measure the length of the line needed and go to the parts store. You'll need to do it in 2 pieces, most stores carry 60" as their longest piece.

As far as driving without rear brakes just take it easy, I was always told the fronts do 75% of the stopping anyhow

Yup, go to the parts store and get the pieces. I redid all my lines for around $30 (except for the spcial hose/line parts).

If inline or classic tube has them that is the way to go. I know it cost more but way less aggravating. And if you get the stainless steel lines you will never need to worry think about them again. They didn't have a set for my 77 4X4 but they did have some 2wd stuff. I made my own with stainless steel tubing for my 77 and my 57 but I have a good flair tool and a lift. I also have put a set on my wifes monti carlo from inline tube.
