Torque Specs?
Truck is a 2001 5.4L, 5-speed, 4x4 ...
What are the recommended torque ranges for
(1) Transmission (ZF 5-sp?) drain & fill plugs
(2) Transfer case (NV 271?) drain & fill plugs
Unfortunately there aren't any decent manuals available ...

There are manuals available Helminc.com (very pricey)
Maybe e-bay some guys get the cd
Now these #'s are for the zf 6spd
drain/fill 26 ft/lbs--35 nm
Transfercase 20ft/lbs --27 nm
These are for the zf- 6sp I only give you these as a reference.
I would stay less than these Just in case !
I don't want you breaking the case!
I will search for the 5 sp ones !

That's a fair amount.In spite of what's recommended I personally wouldn't tighten it that tight.I would also use some thread sealant "dope".I've seen new transaxle cases crack at the drain plug area during assy.
