If it's close ratio (most likely): 4.14, 2.37, 1.42, 1.00, 0.77, R3.79
It it's wide ratio: 5.72, 2.94, 1.61, 1.00, 0.76, R 5.24
Take a look at the tag on the driver side of the tranny, it will give both ZF and Ford part numbers, and also will list the 1st and 5th gear ratios to identify wide or close ratio.

The diesel tranny is a close ratio transmission with the following gear ratios:
1st: 4.14
2nd: 2.37
3rd: 1.42
4th: 1
5th: .77
rev: 3.79

are you starting out with empty in first or second. 3.55 diff 90 f250 7.3 non turbo. just bought truck have been useing second but seems a little high but tried first and it is a bit low when no load.
