adding performance and a lift question

hey, i have a 99 f-250 superduty v-10 extended cab and i am about to add some stuff to it but i wanted to ask you guys what you think is best and your opinions. the first thing is i already have a 2" front lift with blocks to level but its still not level, so i wanted some advice on that, you think i should find 3" blocks to replace them or find something that will lift an inch, or if you have another suggestion let me know. i also want to buy a chip, exhaust, and fuel injection kit.i have looked at almost all of them but i was hoping i could get some opinions from people who have them already. what kind is the best in each category for most power, but more importantly i would like to gain MPG cause the v-10 just eats gas like its nothing. any other performance tips you might have would be great too, thanks a lot. ---tom

Lift blocks are not supposed to be used on the front axle.It is considered unsafe.

I have a Banks Power Pack and a Diablo chip. The ***** runs, compared to stock.I didn't lose any gas mileage, but I didn't do bad on gas before the upgrades.

Like 4x4x4 says, get rid of those front blocks and get some springs or a shackle kit up there!!!

Just curious, did a shop install front blocks???

Sounds to me like "2" kit in the front, with blocks in the back to level."

If that is the case, then check out Tuff-Country. They have a 1" add-a-leaf that is less than $50.

I had to put one on mine when the 2 1/2" kit actually gave me 3".

Yeah, he didn't quite say it but I think he meant the blocks were on the back. I was wondering where do we get these block spacers from?
250/350 Ford spacers? I need to raise my the back of my 2002 Excursion 2 or 3 inches. Are the add a leaf things better?
I would to stiffen the back a little if it's not a lot of trouble. But OK if I can just raise it.

Adding additional leafs to the suspension will stiffen the ride. Blocks won't make a difference in the stiffness.

My opinion, get rid of those front blocks and get new springs or a shackle kit to raise the front.
I can't beleive a legit off road shop would put blocks up front!!

I use the Diablo chip and like it, others don't. For my application, it does everything it said it would.

I agree with Yeti... GET RID OF THE BLOCKS IN THE FRONT. I also can't believe that a legit 4x shop would do that either???

As far as performance mods. Everyone is going to be able to suggest whats BEST, but everyone has their own opinion and for the most part, alot of the products are very similar in performance gains. On this site, I see a lot of trucks with the Diablo chip. It will add about 30HP and 49 ft-lb of torque. This chip seems to work good on trucks that are stock or close to it. The thing you have to remember with a chip is that you have to use 91 or 92 octane gas to see the perfomance additions so it will offset the gain in MPG (if you get any).

Banks has a good exhaust system, but a little pricey and I believe you have to buy the whole system (I don't think you can get just a muffler if thats what you were looking for). Other mufflers you could look into are Flowmaster, Gibson, Magnaflo, and Borla. Personally I have a straight pipe set up on my truck, but if you wanted to have a muffler on the truck, Gibson and Magnaflo have "straight through" designed mufflers.

You could also get a K&N filter (I would recommend just the filter and not the FIPK setup... its a waste of money for what you get). As for a fuel injection system, i don't have any info on this.

I don't think anything is really going to help the MPG on the truck. If you do see an increase, it will probably be around a 1 MPG increase. Also, what kind of milage and/or increase in milage are you getting/expecting? Before I lifted my truck, I was getting 12-13 MPG around town and around 14-15 MPGs on the highway and this was with only 2000 miles on the engine. I think that is damn good for the size of this truck and the engine.
